During the Christmas Midnight Mass, a boy interprets the "Canto de la Sibila" (Song of the Prophet), a musical poem that dates back to the end of the IX Century and talks about the Biblical Apocalypse and the Day of Final Judgement. Mallorca is one of the very few places which have kept this ancient tradition. During the Christmas period, all churches show beautiful elaborated Nativity scenes.
31th December - New Year's Eve
People gather in the main square to celebrate the arrival of the new year eating 12 lucky grapes (a Spanish tradition) as the bells ring at midnight. The town hall provides music and free cava.
